Beach in the morning, lunch at the Marina, and an afternoon in Altos de Chavón: a plan for exploring Casa de Campo by golf cart, with schedules and tips.
Casa de Campo is large: about 7,000 acres between the sea, the golf courses, and the Chavón River. With a golf cart, you do not have to depend on anyone to get around. You leave when you want, stop wherever you like, and return to your villa at your own pace. This is a plan for a full day, from the beach in the morning to an afternoon in Altos de Chavón.
Minitas is Casa de Campo’s private beach, located in the center of the resort, just a few minutes by golf cart from most villas. The sun is gentler in the morning, making it a good time to swim and start the day by the sea.
Leave the cart in the parking areas and take your valuables with you.
Marina Casa de Campo is the resort’s harbor: yachts and sailboats, shops, and waterfront restaurants, just a few minutes by golf cart from the hotel area.
For lunch, the resort has three restaurants at the Marina: SBG, Causa, and La Casita. There are more options nearby, such as Limoncello, which serves pizza and Italian cuisine, and for dessert, Cinco Gelato or Cacao, the ice cream shop at Coconut Mall. After eating, walk along the water and look at the boats before continuing on.
Altos de Chavón is about 20 to 25 minutes by golf cart from the resort’s main area, and the drive itself is part of the experience. There are plenty of places to park when you arrive.
It is a replica of a 16th-century Mediterranean village, handcrafted by Dominican artisans, with stone streets and views of the Chavón River and the Caribbean Sea. What you should not miss:
The hours published by the resort:
| Place | Days | Hours |
|---|---|---|
| Museum | Tuesday to Sunday | 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM |
| Church | Monday to Friday | 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM |
| Art gallery | Monday to Saturday | 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM |
| Artisan Chavón | Every day | 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM |
If you want to visit the museum and the church, arrive in the middle of the afternoon. If you are going for the light, head up an hour before sunset: the stone turns golden, and the river view is the best of the day. From Altos, you cannot see the sun set over the sea, but the afternoon there is worth the trip.
On the last Saturday of each month, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Altos hosts its artisan and food market. Admission to the village is for resort guests, residents, and their guests.
You can stay for dinner in Altos de Chavón: La Piazzetta, serving Italian cuisine, or Chilango Taquería, across from the plaza and the church. At night, many of its bars and restaurants have live music. If you prefer a waterfront atmosphere, return to the Marina.
Drive calmly on the way back: at night, the resort’s roads are shared with cars and other carts. If you do not want to drive, the resort offers nighttime transportation from the lobby to the La Piazzetta parking lot.
